CORE ‘Exercise is Medicine’ Symposium
CORE’s Exercise is Medicine Symposium took place on
June 9, 2009. Four-hundred and fifty physicians, allied health care
practitioners, & health promoters attended the event, where five
internationally recognized speakers presented under the theme ‘Exercise is Medicine’. Event photos, the speakers’ slides, and an audio/visual presentation of the event will soon be posted.

2009 CORE Rides the Heart & Stroke BIG BIKE:
On April 30th 2009, 25 enthusiastic CORE staff, colleagues, friends
and supporters rode the Heart and Stroke’s Big Bike raising $2865 for

2009 CORE Public Lecture:
CORE was pleased to have Dr. Andrew Pipe present Battling Obesity: Lessons Learned from the War Against Smoking at the 3rd Annual CORE Public Lecture on March 25, 2009.
2009 Spring Obesity Workshop in Brockville:
CORE partnered with The Stroke Strategy of Southeastern Ontario and Health Nexus
to host a workshop in Brockville on March 11 2009, for health promoters
and care providers from across the continuum of care in Lanark, Leeds
& Grenville Counties. Eating & Moving Well to Prevent & Treat Obesity: Building our Capacity to Support Behavioural Change addressed issues of obesity, as well as chronic disease prevention and management.
2008 Fall Obesity Workshop in Hastings & Prince Edward Counties:
CORE partnered with The Stroke Strategy of Southeastern Ontario and Health Nexus to host a workshop on 10 October 2008 for health promoters and care providers from across the continuum of care in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. Eating & Moving Well to Prevent & Treat Obesity: Building our Capacity to Support Behavioural Change addressed the issues of obesity and chronic disease provention and management. CORE Featured in Obesity Management:
CORE was the featured Centre in the April 2008 issue (vol. 2, no. 2, pp. 45-86) of Obesity Management, the official pubilcation of CORE USA. CORE contributed several articles in collaboration with colleagues from across Canada. The issue can be found here.
2008 CORE Public Lecture:
CORE was pleased to have Dr. Gillian Booth present The Diabetes Epidemic: Impact and solutions from a population perspective at the 2nd annual public lecture on February 11, 2008 from 7:00—8:30 PM at Dunning Hall, Queen's University. Details from the event can be found here.
